GCSD gave a sub-grant for understanding and reducing threats caused by violent extremism and radicalization

The Georgian Center for Strategy and Development (GCSD) gave the first sub-grant in the framework of the project “Enhancing the capacity of Georgia in preventing violent extremism and radicalization”.

Our first partner organization is Civic Education Teachers’ Forum, which has experience in implementing various projects across the country over the past 7 years. The mission of the forum is to support the professional development and activities of civic education teachers, as well as to promote civic education teaching.

The project aims to promote the prevention of violent extremism and radicalization in the communities of Tbilisi, Shida Kartli, Adjara and Guria regions - through cooperation between two major educational institutions, a school and a university.

In the framework of the project, it is planned to increase the competence of civic education teachers working in 50 schools in the target regions so that they can instill values in young people such as: critical thinking, tolerance, non-discrimination, non-violence, acceptance of diversity and peaceful coexistence. Also, develop skills in teachers that will enable them to take adequate action in case of violent and radical ideas.

In addition, the project aims to promote the values of peaceful coexistence in the target regions. To this end, trainings, seminars and joint projects will be conducted to facilitate the collaboration of university lecturers, civic education teachers, students and pupils.

The project - “Enhancing the capacity of Georgia in preventing violent extremism and radicalization” is implemented by GCSD with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway.
