Second meeting of the Platform for Private-Public Dialogue on Terrorism and Violent Extremism

The Georgian Center for Strategy and Development (GCSD) organised the second meeting of the Platform for Private-Public Dialogue on Terrorism and Violent Extremism.

During the meeting, Giorgi Sabedashvili, Director of the Information Analytical Department of the State Security Service, presented the draft of the National Strategy for Counter-Terrorism. The presentation was followed by a discussion of the draft of the strategy and recommendations regarding the document.

At the end of the meeting, GCSD Director Mariam Tokhadze spoke about the grant projects announced by the organisation for the prevention of violent extremism within the framework of its program "Enhancing the Capacity of Georgia in Preventing Violent Extremism and Radicalisation".

A platform for private-public dialogue on terrorism and violent extremism was established under this program. The aim of the Dialogue Platform is to share the knowledge and practices accumulated in the prevention of violent extremism and the fight against terrorism in the public and civil sectors,  support coordination between the public and non-governmental sectors and thus to promote effective policies. The permanent members of the Council are members of the Permanent Interagency Commission on Elaboration of the National Counterterrorism Strategy and eight thematic non-governmental organisations.
