Training Session On Radicalization And Violent Extremism In Adjara

On 26th of January 2019, Georgian Center for Security Development (GCSD) conducted a training session on radicalization and violent extremism in Adjara. The training was attended by the local influencers: representatives of schools, universities, local self-government, public sector and civil society organizations.

The training was led in a participatory format allowing lively discussion of case studies and alternative narratives that can effectively engage youth in constructive civic work. Training overviewed all forms of radicalization and violent extremism present in Georgia, challenges they create, risks they embody. It was highlighted that joining efforts of different individuals, actors and institutions are important to prevent and tackle radicalization and violent extremism.

The seminar, organized with the financial support of PH International, was conducted within the framework of the project ‘Initiative for empowering local communities in Georgia’.
