Training for the representatives of the Kvemo Kartli region's city halls
On June 1-2, a two-day training - "Preventing and countering of violent extremism" was held in Tbilisi as a part of the program "Enhancing the Capacity of Georgia in Preventing Violent Extremism and Radicalisation" organised by the Georgian Center for Strategy and Development (GCSD).
The event was intended for the representatives of the Kvemo Kartli region's city halls. It was tailored to their needs, under which the specifics of the work of the state institutions were taken into account.
During the event, the speakers discussed the conceptual foundations of violent extremism, its driving factors, and specifics of understanding extremist narratives. Also, the training referred to approaches to countering violent extremism - the specifics of youth and Gender dynamics, the role of education and media, and involvement of community leaders and families. The attention was drawn to planning, monitoring and evaluating the efforts to counter violent extremism.
Similar training has already been conducted for the representatives of the Kakheti, Shida Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Adjara, Samegrelo, Guria and Imereti region's city halls.
