Updates on ongoing projects - Improving Media Access for the Ethnic Minority and Combating Disinformation
With the support of the Georgian Open Society Foundation, Georgian Center for Strategy and Development (GCSD) is implementing the project “Improving Media Access for the Ethnic Minority and Combating Disinformation” for already 5 months.
The aim of the project is to support the local media in Samtskhe-Javakheti so that the Armenian population receive timely and reliable information on local and national news. The aim of the project is to provide rapid and effective information to the population in the region, reduce the threat of disinformation and promote the involvement of local ethnic minorities in the country's political processes.
The project is implemented in partnership with Samtskhe-Javakheti local media company tv9news.ge
- 92 multimedia materials in Georgian and Armenian languages were created in cooperation with TV 9 within the framework of the project, from July 2020;
- As a result of the joint activities of TV 9 and GCSD, 23,198 people learned information about elections, pandemics, disinformation and other news in Armenian in July, 26,327 in August, 18,351 in September and 18,442 in October;
- In addition, the problems of 8 villages populated by ethnic Armenians and 2 villages populated by Georgians were covered.
