Training for representatives of city halls of Adjara, Samegrelo, Guria and Imereti regions
On November 18-19, a two-day training was held in Batumi as a part of the program "Enhancing the Capacity of Georgia in Preventing Violent Extremism and Radicalisation" organised by the Georgian Center for Strategy and Development (GCSD).
The event was intended for the representatives of the Adjara, Samegrelo, Guria and Imereti region's city halls. It was tailored to their needs, under which the specifics of the work of the state institutions were taken into account.
During the event the trainer discussed the conceptual foundations of violent extremism, its driving factors, and approaches to countering it - the specifics of young people and Gender dynamics, the role of education and media, involvement of community leaders and families. The attention was drawn to planning and monitoring efforts to counter violent extremism.
Similar training has already been conducted in Kakheti and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions. GCSD plans to continue this kind of trainings for other regions of the country.
The program is implemented by GCSD with the financial support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway.
